Kazakhstan is home to one of the largest subspecies of maral in the world. The antlers of marals can weigh up to 20 kg. Their habitat includes the mountains of the Northern Tien Shan and Altai regions. Hunting typically takes place at altitudes of 2,000 to 3,500 meters above sea level, requiring good physical fitness to navigate mountainous and forested terrain. Horseback riding skills are highly recommended, and hunters may spend 2-3 nights in tent camps in the mountains.

Shooting distances range from 200 to 300 meters. Recommended calibers include 300 Win Mag, 300 WSM, 7 Rem Mag, 270 Win Mag, 270 WSM, 300 Weatherby Mag., 300 PRC, and other magnum calibers. Shooting equipment—rifle, scope, and ammunition—should ensure precise accuracy of 1 MOA at 100 meters. A rangefinder or binoculars with a laser rangefinder and a ballistic calculator are also desirable.

Group size: 2 to 4 people.

Primary Trophy: Maral

Additional Trophies (depending on the hunting location): Siberian ibex, Siberian roe deer, wolf, wild boar.

Transfers to hunting grounds can be organized directly from the airport, or accommodations in Almaty city hotels can be booked upon request. Base camps in hunting areas feature comfortable lodges, serving as starting points for radial hunts on horseback or off-road vehicles. A typical maral hunting tour lasts 5-7 days. From the base camp, the group rides on horseback to promising hunting zones, staying overnight in tent fly camps or small cabins. European and traditional cuisine is offered at the base camp. After harvesting the primary trophy, depending on the season, hunters can pursue roe deer, wolves, upland birds (ulars, partridges), fish in mountain rivers, or take excursions to national park landmarks.
